Closing up the gingerbread contest sack

December 29, 2011

Well, I just wanted to send out a massive thank you to everyone who helped me realise this – being great sounding boards in the preparations, donating prizes, taking part in the contest, voting, spreading the word online and on the podwaves. Heaps of thanks! Without you, this would not have happened.

I hope to do this again in 2012, albeit with a few alterations – like not closing the contest so close to the holidays, and simplifying the rules (if that’s possible!) :-) Start planning your contributions now…

Next in Goodies fandom…

Meanwhile, I do believe the next Goodies related event in Europe is “The Goodies And Some Untold Kapers” fan art exhibition in Bristol, Jan 26 – Feb 2, 2012 (closed Jan 29). The artist behind the ehibition is a certain Jenny Doyle, who you might recognise as one of our contest winners (decoration class). I believe help might still be needed – read all about it on the exhibition’s facebook page.

As luck would have it, the exhibition is open during the same weekend that the Slapstick Festival 2012 is on in Bristol, and this time around all three Goodies (and a bunch of other great comedy talents) will take part in the festival. So if you’re in Bristol for the Slapstick Festival, make sure you check out the art exhibition as well.

And I hope you’re a devout listener to the Goodies Podcast, and a member of GROK and The Saucy Gibbon. No? Well, it’s never too late to take more part in the fandom! ;-)

Cheers!

Isabell

Winner in the House/Creation class:

Helen Randle, UK

The New Office

Runner up in the House/Creation class:

Jeff & Jane Walker with Jane’s niece Ashleigh, Australia

Congratulations everyone and thank you for taking part!

Winners get first pick from the prize packs for each class, and the runner up gets second pick – make your choices and email me at goodiescontest@gmail.com

Voting is now open! (plus one winner already!)

December 14, 2011

Because there was only one entrant in the Decoration class, that contestant is by default a winner in that category. And even though the final winners were supposed to be revealed after voting was done, there’s no point in postponing the declaration that it’s Jenny Doyle from the UK who is the winner of the Decoration class. Congratulations Jenny! :-)

You can find Jenny’s photos of her entry here

But we have two contestants in the House/creation class, and now it’s up to the voting public to decide which of these gets the first pick from the prize pack for that class.

>> Voting is open for one week <<

All the photos for the two House/creation class entries are hereplease make sure you look at them all before casting your vote!

Edited to add that voting is open to anyone – even if you have taken part in the contest yourself.

Dec 21st: The poll has now been closed, and the final result was 23 votes for “The New Office” and 4 votes for “Trandem Cottage”. I’ll see if I can get the actual poll to display the results here. See next post for the announcement of the winners and runner up!

And the contestants are….

December 13, 2011

… to be revealed a little bit later! I’m waiting for a caption for one of them, and then we’re good to go.

Meanwhile, I have these full screen pictures of delicious looking gingerbread creations in front of me, and I’m beginning to feel just a little bit peckish*…

Patience, good people, patience :-)

*And by that, I don’t mean I’m beginning to feel a little bit like Gregory Peck. In case you were wondering.

Closed for more entries

December 13, 2011

The deadline has been passed, and the contest is now closed for more entries.

All entries will be published on this blog within the next 12 hours, and voting for your favourite(s) will then be open for one week.

A warm thank you to the participants! :-)

..

Nearing deadline…

December 11, 2011

The contest deadline is midnight your local time on December 12th – this means that if you’re in e.g. Central Europe you have around 49 hours left. Of course, this means that people in Australia and New Zealand have a lot less time left, while the people on the US west coast have a lot more time left.

Either way, if you want to enter THIS is basically the time to start on your contribution!

..

After the deadline I will gather up the photos of the entries and post them here. To be really honest, at the moment there aren’t that many entrants, so we have yet to see if we actually need to do the voting in both of the classes :-) All shall be revealed as soon as possible after the deadline.

..

Then what, once the contest is over? Well, read more after the break!

November 22, 2011

Here’s the final on the prizes; they have now been divided into two groups, so that winners in each class gets to select from each prize group. Stickers – comedy heroes cartoons by Mana Yamaguchi.

Music vinyl LP album: “The new Goodies LP”.

Decoration class prizes:

An Oddie watcher badge.

Music CD album: “Funky Gibbon – the best of The Goodies”.

More prizes – musical prizes!

November 12, 2011

Part of what makes The Goodies such a brilliant show is of course the music, and in this contest there are two musical prizes to win!

A CD kindly donated by Lisa from GROK:

And an LP donated by yours truly:

Since the CD is with Lisa in the USA, I cannot of course say anything about the condition and background of it — but the LP seems to have been owned by or sent out as a contest prize from a Swedish radio station in the north of the country (Radio Piteå). It is used but in very good condition, although the insert (seen to the right in the picture) is a bit coffee stained, and the record’s white paper envelope (not in the picture) has writing on it  so I can try to find a new envelope thingy for the winner, should that be requested. Although it IS part of Goodies history in Sweden ;)
